It is so easy to be on edge these days online particularly when it comes to finances, there’s a push to have everything digital from gaming purchases and doing everything on your debit card instead of paying in cash and so losing it all has never been easier.
Social Media presence can get wiped out quick and easy or somebody goes in takes your account, creates havoc and then gives it back for you to pick up the pieces.
I got anxious when an email came in November saying that I wanted to change my Facebook password, I selected it wasn’t me and went on with my business, the two-step authentication process has been a great invention for stopping most takeover attempts.
A few weeks ago, Paul Jenkins reported somebody was trying to hack into his Facebook account and the mind starts thinking about the possibilities like is it really somebody who likes Axanar trying to rattle Paul or is it some sad hacker out there trying to bring down an account for fun and maybe ask for a payday if that person holds it for ransom.
A number of people in the middle of the Axanar fighting have reported that somebody has attempted a password change on their accounts, it could just be a coincidence that it was done to them or somebody is targeting a select number of people.
Just a few hours ago, I got a password recovery message, and one can’t help but feel nervous and anxious, Australians have been dealing with hackers these last few months, they’ve hit large businesses and people’s details have been stolen, bank accounts hit etc. really putting people in edge.
I hope out of the possibilities, that it was a wannabe hacker trying to get in instead of some sad individual out there who likes to go into Facebook groups or other places, find out people’s emails and then send a request for a recovery code etc.
The strange thing about hackers is that all the skills they have could really change gaming or program development but instead they try to make lives miserable and maybe try scoring some cash until they are caught and end up spending years in a small cell.
Until next time, be good to each other.
I’d probably suggest that you sign up for alerts at https://haveibeenpwned.com/ , it will alert you if your email has been found in a password dump.

Got it, it seems people are just triggering the change password option for kicks, most likely to annoy the owner of the account.
