144 days to go until the 2024 Trekzone Fan Film Awards.
This week was spent putting together more of the categories, I am pleased to say that most categories do have more than four possibilities so that means they are a go for the awards.
We got plenty of time and there is still a stack of fan films in the pipeline like Starfleet Legends Act III, Monster, the latest from Euderion -Infinity- and more so there is plenty of interesting times to come.
We got some special news this week, the prize packs for the 2023 Trekzone Fan Film Awards arrived at their destinations in the United States, this is always an exciting time, the happiness people get from the arrival of the awards is the greatest reason to keep going every year.
The reactions to the arrival of the awards will be added to the 2023 awards section when available.
While things have been pretty quiet on the fan film front, the word ‘Coward’ is being tossed around this week with Jon Tessler telling MTM that ‘the cowards in other groups don’t want to face Axanar supporters directly.’
Cast your minds back a few years, the coward talk happened back then after both sides (Yay for Alec and Nay for Alec) avoided each other at a convention, so they met directly at the next one and what happened? Shawn O’Halloran hurt ears with his singing, Alec slapped Shawn’s phone, Shawn parted tables like parting the sea to get it back, Alec got charges (later dismissed), Shawn got a TPO (not charged with stalking as claimed), Alec wrote a lot about it, and nobody wants to do that again.
Here’s the thing, would Alec Peters appear on Robert Meyer Burnett’s show? How about Trekzone? Would he talk with Emmett Plant? Would Jon, Jonathan, Colin, or Brian go on them? There’s been many offers, but they’ve all been ignored by Alec, is that cowardly or does that get a free pass?
On the other side of the coin, would Shawn, Justin, Emmett, Matt, Tara or Dean go on Axanar Confidential if offered? Even Fan Film Factor? Let’s hear why Person X thinks Person Y a bad person and vice versa, put it all on the table and let the people decide.
There would be a lot of terms and conditions, questions would likely be asked for in advance, so nobody gets ‘ambushed’ by a question, and they would have to able to use screenshots etc. or as the trendy (or trying to be trendy) people call them ‘receipts’ as points or counterpoints.
The simplest way to determine who is the more ‘cowardly’ side is finding out which side is eager to say No to going live on YouTube and having a conversation where it is impossible to edit a bit out, stand and deliver, simple as that.
There is plenty to think about this week, next week we’ll take a look at how all the fan films are going.
Until next time, be good to each other.
