There are 74 days to go before the 2024 Trekzone Fan Film Awards take place in a hopefully sunny Australian state of Queensland.

It has been a largely quiet week in the fan film world, work continues on the awards and trying to figure out who to nominate for the awards, a person cannot be soft when it comes to awards decisions, you can’t try and spread out the awards to make people happy, you got to decide on what speaks to you the loudest and clearest.

FSFilm released the soundtrack to their scrapped fan film ‘Diplomacy’, this fan film was scrapped due to the fan film guidelines that came in after the humble mostly made in garage and basement fan films became big sets in warehouses with professionals in front of and behind the camera with high six figure amounts to over a million dollars in the kitty.

GeekyKool.com has released a modified version of ‘The Icarus Manoeuvre’ (Manoeuvre is the Australian way of spelling the word), gone is the copyright in the end credits and ‘A Star Trek Fan Production’ has been added.

Hours after the upload, the video was unlisted but as the link was already spread around, anybody can see it and be greeted with the above message at the start of the video, no doubt trying to rile up those who really dislike CBS and Paramount and think that those working on Axanar should get the job of making studio released Star Trek.

What is old is new again at Ares Studios as Alec Peters takes over as CEO and CFO of the studio.

Neutral Zone Studios is moving, they are moving to a place which ‘will include updated conditions and amenities that we currently do not have‘ and they are ‘currently in the process of negotiating tenancy in this new building‘, everything is expected to continue as normal.

Now let us see how some fan films are going at this present time.

‘Dream Time’ has moved up to 13th on Potemkin Pictures all-time watched list, it needs just over 4,000 views to crack the Top 10, ‘Aftermath‘ is the fan film currently sitting in tenth.

‘Can’t Stop’ is just a few hundred views short of reaching 45,000 and then it is on to the 50,000-view milestone which is very achievable.

Loreley’s big sized fan film ‘Monster’ has received 18,000+ views since its release on March 30 of this year, if you got a spare hour then this fan film is worthy of filling in that time for you.

‘The Legacy of the Archein’ has 16,000+ views since its release on March 31 of this year, make sure that you check this fan film out.

There are no changes to the Top Ten all time viewed fan films, Star Trek: First Frontier has eaten into the gap between it and Prelude to Axanar but the latter is still some 300,000 views ahead in the battle for second.

That’s the news and views for this week, next week we’ll be 67 days away from the 2024 Trekzone Fan Film Awards and less than a week away from the next phase of the awards process.

Until next time, be good to each other.
