‘The Icarus Manoeuvre’ went up a second time on April 25 and it was brought down a second time on April 29/April 30 depending on where you live.
Now it is up again on a video hosting site that is not YouTube, and it seems that Team Axanar want CBS and Paramount to play Whack-A-Mole by going to the new site to take the new video down.
Some people wonder if the put up and take down business is all just a ploy to get some Star Trek fans riled up at the big bad CBS and Paramount and maybe give Axanar another hit of low-end celebrity if CBS and Paramount take drastic action or perhaps it is a legal strategy to try wiggle out of paying CBS and Paramount $292,000.
We all know that the small fan films in the ‘Axanar Universe’ are Axanar spare parts, ‘;’The Icarus Manoeuvre’ was written by Alec Peters, stars Alec Peters and was directed by Axanar’s co-director with the end result originally ending up on Axanar’s YouTube channel, it is like the old days of car manufacturing in Australia when a Holden Barina or Holden Astra was really just a rebadged Opel, or when Ford and Mazda sold versions of each other’s cars with a different name like the Ford Telstar was the Mazda 626.
There are concerns that Axanar’s continued defiance could cost all fan film makers in the end, the rules were changed thanks to Axanar and they can easily change again in the future with more restrictions and while seemingly unfair, we would deserve the penalty for taking miles when we were granted inches.
It’s simple really, CBS and Paramount didn’t care when people filmed in garages with put together bridges, uniforms and props and then somebody out there got ambitious and decided to hire pros and build full on replica sets and then another saw this and thought well if they are hiring pros then I want fans to pay for a studio and raise over a million dollars and I’ll hire pros up and down the line (except for the star who is an amateur) and CBS and Paramount saw this and seemingly thought this is beyond homage and people having a good time, it has become a business, a business that steps on our business.
The IP of Star Trek belongs to CBS and Paramount, it does not belong to the people, we play on CBS and Paramount’s field, they are the referee and when they give the red card, off the field you go, some people just either don’t get the message or they think it doesn’t apply to them.
Until next time, be good to each other.
We’ve been privileged to play in their sandbox for around 15 years. We hope that they continue to let us do so.

You’ll most likely be just fine, but God help the next person who wants to ignore guidelines and settlements.
