There are 38 days to go until The Best of 2024 List is published and fan films continue to be released which is good news for us all.
We dusted off The 2024 Trekzone Fan Film Awards winners list to use as a template with 2023 films removed and 2024 films started to be considered to become the holders of the categories.
765874 – Unification has been the talk of fandom the last couple of days, this creation is not a fan film as some have called it, it was made to celebrate 30 years of Generations with William Shatner digitally starring in it and executive producing it, it actually has quite a bit of star power in its running time of under eight minutes.
Some say it is the best Star Trek in twenty-five years, seriously.
Now to fan films and FSFilm have ‘The Final Mission’ teaser coming up in five days’ time, this is going to be one interesting fan film to watch and we’re really looking forward to discussing how it is going in the next edition of MTM Wrap.
It has been announced that funding for Farragut 2024: A Star Trek Fan Production has commenced, this comes as Farragut Forward at this time of writing reached 99,000 views and will likely be at 100,000 views in the next few hours.
We are definitely seeing fan film creators testing the limits of the guidelines; the fan film guidelines don’t seem to be worth the website it is written on aside from the fundraising part but on the other hand it seems that the powers that be don’t care what is going on in fan film land as long as somebody does not do anything monumentally stupid like Axanar.
Don’t try making a life out of fan films as Paramount and CBS will take action against you as evident by what we’ve seen recently with Axanar being told to pay $292,000 for breaking their agreement, though it looks like it won’t be paid as the judgement is considered by Axanar to be a scam.
‘Sleeping Dragon’ is now less than 750 views away from the joining the 10,000-view club which is fantastic to see, if you haven’t seen this fan film, do give it a shot, it has been a great year for
‘The Legacy of the Archein’ now has just over 23,000 views since its release earlier this year, this is one of the fan films that is being thought about for The Best of 2024 List, and they sure have given us a lot to think about.
The Third Option has just over 2,600 views which is surprising considering the success of ‘Can’t Stop‘ which has 51,000 views since its release, if you haven’t given it a go yet, give it a shot, you may like it plus it will fill in time while waiting for The Final Mission.
That’s it for this week; the year is winding down and the adventures continue to be had which is always great to watch and fun to be a part of in some small way.
Until next time, be good to each other.
