We’re just under five months away from The 2025 Trekzone Fan Film Awards and it is easy to take a very relaxed approach to things with it being so far away.

A lot of thinking has been done since the completion of The 2024 Trekzone Fan Film Awards and will continue to be that way until June 10, 2025, when we start turning ideas into selections.

It may be hard to explain how things are decided, some people can know all the jargon by heart and can go into detail on decisions, others just know what they are looking for, they can’t explain it but, in the mind, they know what they are looking for.

The thing that matters is that we know what we know, and we must have no doubts about the choices that we will be making, we can’t think ‘oh this fan film group will want to kick us in the nuts if we don’t pick them’ or this fan films has a squillion or two of view therefore they have to sweep the pool this year.

We have an interesting array of fan films to think about this year from ‘Bomber Girl’ to ‘Farragut Forward’, the count will be somewhere around 30 fan films by the time June 10, 2025, comes along and those will be split into two categories, one will be for all those fan films under 20 minutes and the rest will be in the 20 minutes and over category.

We’re looking forward to the Most Popular Fan Film Award because anything can happen, A Fighting Chance: Roaring Thunder and Can’t Stop had a duel that lasted to the very last hour.

FSFilm will be attempting to defend their title with The Third Option and Sweet Oblivion and Nature’s Hunger does have ‘Bomber Girl’ so maybe they’ll be once again at the front of the pack this year.

Fan Film groups who released multiple fan films may have to decide what fan film they want to campaign on as they may split the vote three or four ways instead of putting all the eggs in the one basket.

There’s still plenty to think about but that’s it for this month, we’ll be back next month with the latest news and information.
