There are 26 days to go until The 2025 Trekzone Fan Film Awards are here, and it was a big week for us as the nominations were announced, and the Most Popular Fan Film poll was launched.

The nominees show went pretty well; there were some microphone issues that decided to pop up on the big day after practice sessions went perfectly but overall, the job was done, and people were happy.

Then we launched the poll, and it started great, the new plugin that was purchased was doing its job and then it started getting quirky, votes were duplicating, we were getting different vote totals one person would see 8 and another would see 32 and then we were told that you press on one fan film and it would vote for the one above it which sounds like something from stories from the 2000 US Election but it happened to us.

As you can see, Starfleet Legends Act III and Sweet Oblivion were getting 59% of the vote each and 22 votes apiece which made no sense at all considering 59% + 59% = 118% plus other fan films had a percentage as well.

So, we had to abandon the plugin and go back to the tried and proven method of voting on Facebook, the votes were reset to 0 because there was no way of knowing which fan film had a correct number of votes, we wanted to show you what happened so nobody thinks we were pulling a fast one on a fan film or two.

To vote on the Facebook poll, just go here and make your selection, you can also indicate on the event page if you are going to watch the awards show live or have an interest in it so you can have a reminder of the event.

So far at this time of writing, 75 votes have been cast with Starfleet Legends Act III in the lead with 66% of the votes, any fan film can still win it as it is early days, and we will regularly update readers on how things are going.

That’s it for this week, a little bumpy here and there with technical issues but overall, a great success as we build up towards July 10 and The 2025 Trekzone Fan Film Awards.

Until next time, be good to each other.
