There are 117 days to go until The 2026 Trekzone Fan Film Awards are here, it will be the fifth awards to be held which is pretty cool, it doesn’t feel like five years, but it will be and who knows what will happen on July 10 and onwards.

There is a lot to consider for the 2026 awards, there was a spike in animated fan films, there was fan films of many different lengths, the mix of styles does make it very interesting to decide things and hopefully you will enjoy the show when it happens on the big day.

The season finale of Starfleet Academy was just a few days ago, like it or hate it, we all survived the hour and what’s more is that the sun rose on time the next morning and there were no apocalyptic scenes going on outside.

We are guaranteed at least one more year of the craziness we that see on Facebook and YouTube though as we frequently ponder, is it all real feelings or is it largely just an act put on for monetization purposes with fake accounts propping up the angst?

We get a little bit of a break before Strange New Worlds comes along and we’ll see what gets served up on Facebook and YouTube for that show.

The fine folks at Potemkin Pictures have given us a new fan film to look at, it is called Encounter and it is a proof-of-concept film for the relaunch of Starship Tristan which sounds very good to us, we have definitely noticed the big change in the visual effects and look forward to seeing what comes in the future.

Speaking of Potemkin Pictures, ‘Polarization’ has moved up to 36th place on Potemkin Pictures most watched fan films on YouTube and it is just a few hundred more views away from moving up a couple of more places on the list with three more in the 12,000-view bracket and five fan films in the 13,000-view bracket.

If you haven’t already, give Starship Mojave a try, their most recent release was ‘Community’ back in November last year and they release a couple of episodes per year, hopefully we get some this year.

FSFilm’s big success ‘Can’t Stop’ is currently just 131 views away from reaching 54,000 views, we certainly do hope that it gets there in the not-too-distant future and then makes its way to 55,000 and beyond.

Last year’s Christmas Eve special present ‘The Last Charge of the Thunderchild’ is still making its way through the 9000’s, it is currently at 9,215 views and don’t forget that this fan film is eligible for The 2026 Trekzone Fan Film Awards.

That is all for this edition of MTM Wrap, as always thank you very much for taking the time to stop on by and read all about the latest happenings from news to opinions.

Until next time, be good to each other.
