123 days to go until the 2024 Trekzone Fan Film Awards takes place in hopefully a sunny Queensland, right now it is a little bit of a wet state with 2.3 inches falling overnight in the local area.

The lists for each category are regularly worked on, the aim is not to leave anybody out by mistake, so far, we have 13 directors’ credits to choose from in the ‘Best Director’ category.

A reminder that the cutoff date for eligible fan films is April 10, 2024, that allows one month to cut the lists down to four nominations and then a month for a decision to be made on all categories and allow plenty of time to make purchasing and shipping arrangements of the three main awards for them to arrive shortly after July 10, 2024.

New from Potemkin Pictures is ‘Formication’, the crew of the Caliborn are on a mission when Captain Hawkins tells a story from his days on the Webster, it is a hit with viewers on YouTube with 2,800 views in six days.

The Title Sequence for Star Trek: Venture is out now on YouTube; it is always good to see the development of a new fan film though they really shouldn’t be using Star Trek: but the Eye and the Mountain don’t seem to mind the usage.

‘Dream Time’ has passed ‘The Castaway’ to become the 22nd most watched Potemkin Pictures fan film on YouTube, a bit of a journey is needed for the fan film to reach 21st, an additional six fan films are in the 13,000 to 14,000 view range.

‘Can’t Stop’ has made it to 42,000 views, its momentum has slowed recently but hopefully it will pick up again and get to 50,000 views.

That’s the news for this week, all is going well in the fan film world.

Until next time, be good to each other.
