There are 171 days to go until ‘The Best of 2024 List’ is published, this list will be vastly different to The 2024 Trekzone Fan Film Awards as a lot of winners were released in 2023 and so the experience will not a carbon copy of The 2024 Trekzone Fan Film Awards.
In case you missed it, The 2024 Trekzone Fan Film Awards were held on July 10 and for 15 out of 17 categories we did pretty well, lots of happy people from Czechia to United States which is always a good thing.

The Legacy of the Archein – 2
Can’t Stop – 2

We took a bit of a beating especially when it came to VFX and Makeup, it seems I did not do a good enough job of how things were determined, I tried my best and that’s all I can do about it.
Some people aren’t happy with our selection system; our system was designed so it was not a carbon copy of the other awards systems, there are perceived flaws in every system, but we are not going to change ours.
Some people aren’t happy about fan films being left out, they are never coming back, the division is too deep, and it is never, ever going to be repaired, that’s the bottom line and if people aren’t happy about it, they just have to accept it.
Fan Film makers that we award don’t have to worry about the ones not around, you’re the best that we see, and you will always be.
There are a good number of people out there who are happy with how things were done and how things went, and I am very happy about that.
Even if we’re down to two fan productions, I’d still do the awards, no problem because it’s fun to do, it isn’t about popularity, it is about enjoyment and it is as fun as being taken for a scenic drive.
Viewing numbers wise, videos for the nominations, the show and the shorts for 2024 have done better than the 2023 awards, so that is good news, the two awards shows have near identical numbers with 2024 expected to move ahead shortly, the nomination show was a big success and the shorts have done really well.
Now the awards have been ordered and they will be shipped out as soon as they arrive, yes, the Tim Tams will be there and yes there will be Vegemite, it may get mocked but we like sending it and the fan productions love springing it on unsuspecting people who don’t know how to use it properly.
Now to milestone news, Periphery and Dream Time are now running side by side on Potemkin Pictures’ most watched list, they got a bit of work to do to get into the Top 10 but we’ll be watching with great interest.
Potemkin Pictures have been busy this last week, they got plenty of fan films in the queue and work has been carried out on the sets, never a dull moment for them.
‘Can’t Stop’ did make it to 50,000 views shortly after we talked about it almost getting there, they had a pretty good week and are said to be partying, always a good choice.
The sets are being deconstructed at Neutral Zone Studios, last report had them as moving somewhere, they don’t know where but there are two buildings in Central Florida that are ‘serious prospects’, they also don’t want pictures taken of the deconstruction.
That’s the news and views for this week.
Until next time, be good to each other.
Thank you again for the award ceremonies! They were greatly appreciated!
Yes, we’ve been very busy! We have five films in post: Tristan’s “Night Shift,” Potemkin’s “The Polyphemus Program,” Deimos’ “Slingshot,” Sagittarius’ “Assault on PAX 12,” and Webster’s “”Thicker than Water.” We have a shoot for Caliborn’s “The Plain Sight.” And I’m editing PAX 12 while working on a retouch of a script for Webster.
All in all, we’re excited about our upcoming releases, and hope our fans are as well.
Looking forward to films from others as well!
Randy
