There are 136 days to go until The Best of 2024 List is published, there are a slate of fan films to come before the year is out so things will be very interesting on December 31.
Coming up soon from Matthew Lee Blackburn and friends is ‘Undercover’, the trailer was released just a few days ago and it looks very interesting, we’ll keep an eye out on this production.
Chris Lea has released another short fan film, take a look at that beautiful D7 in all its beauty, no doubt we’ll be seeing the ship in other fan films of Chris’ in the near future.
From Thunder comes ‘New Frontiers’ a short video that hopefully leads to more videos in the future.
From barryc1701 is a video titled ‘USS Foley Saucer Sep’, this is a taste from an upcoming fan film, so we got to keep our eye on this one.
Trekzone is wrapping up Fan Films Done Right, but Matt Miller is sticking around as the link to the latest edition of MTM Wrap will be posted on Trekzone every week and there’s The Best of 2024 List and next year’s awards are being worked on at this moment, there is always lots to think about.
That’s it for this week, short and sweet but it is very complete.
Until next time, be good to each other.
A very complete list apart from all the blacklisted teams 😉

Freedom of choice, I choose not to cover them.

Fair enough. Not exactly in the spirit of Star Trek to reduce the universe around you, but your choice indeed.

The spirit of Star Trek is not a free pass, there are standards and if people don’t meet my standards, I don’t do business with them, simple as that.

The notion that everyone must be included and everyone must win a prize is the worst thing to come out of the last 30 years

I’m not sure I can follow you. At least the second part. No one ever said everyone must win a prize. I’m not here to bring up old discussions, it’s water under the bridge for me. Just sad to see you guys seem to narrow the scope of what you consider news worthy more and more just because of some discussions around the awards. That’s all. It really shouldn’t be so hard to have a heated debate about one thing and disagree but then also move on and be objective about the fandom overall, should it not?

We have debated. Our point of view was not accepted, therefore it was no longer a debate.
Again, not everyone must be included… and we’re allowed to pick and choose our stories

That’s what I mean. You can debate a thing, you can end on disagreeing about it and you can still move on from it with no hard feelings. I for one never considered our discussion adversarial on a personal level. The fact you put our interview after our discussion behind a paywall and hide it on your youtube channel and the way you disregard whole projects based on personal discussions with single people tells me you take all this way to personal when it’s not meant to be that. Same thing here with RKS not reporting on certain projects because he was critiqued for how the awards were decided upon.

What are you on about with this critiquing stuff?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems to me since our debate about the awards you would rather ignore anything about our project and not report on it. We put out a new mini episode 9 days ago showcasing our advancements in tech for what we plan to use on our next episode. From your reply “I choose not to cover them.” I concluded this also referred to our production.

“As I’m sure we are forever blacklisted after upsetting your majesty, I bid you farewell.”
We were farewelled by the other Monster guy and that was taken to be well that’s it, done with us and we all moved on.

“The other Monster guy” was me. I’m the only one ever arguing on here with you and Matt. I wrote that.
And you kind of made my point here. I was expecting (based on the interactions we had up to that point and based on how you blacklisted other teams before that) for you and Matt to “blacklist” us from any further reporting or awards considerations in the future and it seems to me that is exactly what is happening now.

Well you were wrong, you left us, not we left you and we let you leave, no point chasing after somebody who let themselves out the door.

Well, let’s try and stick to the truth here. In the full context, my sarcastic “your majesty” remark came in part because at that point it seemed to me that my comments had been deleted due to a hiccup with this word press system. Our discussion moved on after that and I apologised for the remark / misunderstanding on my part. In the end it was Matt who made it clear that he no longer wished to discuss the matter any further and that was the point where I stopped commenting on the matter too.
But like I wrote in the beginning, for me it’s water under the bridge in regards to the whole awards discussion. It’s just disappointing to see a site like this be so subjective about their reporting based on personal feelings, which was kind of my point from the beginning when the whole awards debate started.
To the unknowing outside you and Matt actively portrait the ST fan film world to be much smaller than it actually is and I just cannot imagine that was your goal when you both started your projects all these years ago.

I serve the fan films that want me to serve them and if people don’t like that then that’s the way it is.

Indeed it is.
Well… I’ve argued my position on this, not much more I can say after that reply of yours.
