Seventeen days to go until The Best of 2024 List is published and as you will see below, the possibilities keep on flowing in as we approach the big day.

Christmas has arrived early thanks to Potemkin Pictures releasing ‘Assault on PAX 12’, this adventure sees the Starship Sagittarius and its crew in action, what is PAX 12? Why is the Starship Sagittarius involved? find out in just nineteen minutes and twenty-three seconds of solid and dependable storytelling.

But wait, there is even more early Christmas presents to take a look at as Matthew Lee Blackburn and the many other fine talents that go into his productions have released ‘Raiders of the Lost Trek’.

Now this is a very interesting meeting of the two powerhouse Paramount Pictures franchises, you got to admire Matthew for having a go at it.

The early Christmas presents are still coming because if you’re a fan of FSFilm then you won’t have to wait long for a December treat as ‘Sweet Oblivion’ is coming on December 18 (December 17 for some parts of the world) and it looks like a very interesting fan film.

Now for some potentially controversial events and thoughts.

It has been reported that Neutral Zone Studios has been served with a Cease-and-Desist weeks after leaving Kingsland to set up in Sandusky, Ohio.

All the major players in this saga have gone quiet, those who have insider information say that the C&D is true.

If it is true and had this happened a few years ago, people would have been jumping up and down mad about it, but the changed fan film landscape has resulted in minimal impact from those who like to talk about such things.

Fans, we the people do not own Star Trek, and the people never will, it belongs to Paramount Global fair and square, people don’t seem to get that, it’s their lawn, we’re allowed to play on it but if you start building home sweet home on the lawn, the owners can get angry and kick people off and rightfully so.

It’s simple folks, fan film studios should be keeping their head down, try not to ask for donations no matter how you phrase it and don’t do things like conventions and fan appreciation weekends, be humble, be as quiet as possible and get things done, you are lone rangers.

Meanwhile Axanar has obviously decided to ignore CBS and Paramount by relaunching their Axanar store on the Axanar website, will Paramount and CBS decide to take any further action on Axanar? If so, what will be the penalty? MTM wouldn’t be surprised if the penalty is taking Axanar away from YouTube, depriving Axanar of potentially a million or two of views, there’s no projection on numbers and they lose attention as they’ll have to setup in the backwaters of the internet.

It has become a game of chicken, there must be two hopes, the first is that CBS and Paramount get out of the way and let Axanar do what it feels like, or they end up colliding and Axanar gets fresh attention as they make a stand against big, bad corporations, in the end we just hope that the fallout doesn’t reach other fan productions.

That’s the news and views for the week.

Until next time, be good to each other.
