This MTM Wrap was planned to be very short as I wasn’t feeling that good, but it seems that the more I typed, the better I felt, I wish I had known that earlier, but we are going to be talking about the status of The Trekzone Fan Film Awards.

There are 96 days to go until The 2025 Trekzone Fan Film Awards, while it appears that there is not a whole lot of written enthusiasm about it, it is still quite a distance away and a lot of time is spent just thinking about scenarios but give it another month and things will pick right up.

There are so many interesting fan films to consider this year and we know there is a belief that a blockbuster would dominate any awards (fan film or otherwise) ceremony on the planet but sometimes the smallest of films tick all the boxes.

We do love smaller fan films and if they do things just as good as the bigger ones, they’ll have all the consideration in the world, we’re talking about small in resources not small in running length like a minute and a half, one suspects it has to be five minutes or higher regarding our twenty-minute rule but if it is poetry in motion, deep thoughts will be required.

There is a bit of fear of ‘picking wrong’, we don’t want to tick a fan production or two off, but that is awards shows for you, somebody is absolutely not going to like everything that we pick, there’s been so many upsets and snubs and all the rest in Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Grammys etc. to fill documentaries and books many times over, so we just got to go in there, think it through, make our choice and then sell it with a song in our hearts and cheer in our voices.

Don’t worry, there will not be any song to open the awards this year, a song about all the fan films we’d be considering would have been cool, but it is back to a straight-laced production this year.

The best news is that fan films are covering a wide range of topics and have a wide range of running times, so we got plenty of choice for all of our categories and we still got plenty of time to go for more.
