Boy oh boy, things really hit the fan when a Starfleet Academy poster was released with the cadets all lounging around on grass like one of those 90s TV shows.
Alex Kurtzman is not a popular franchise runner at the moment, hasn’t been for years and this poster had all the anti-Alex Kurtzman fans out in force.
How can somebody hate something based off a poster? Do we know what percentage of the show focuses on the cadets? will it be majority class and minority personal life?
Even after seeing the four minute clip, we still don’t know enough to form an opinion of the show.
We’ve become accustomed to rubbishing something before it gets out of the gate, it has become a global sport in this day and age from NASCAR to movies and TV shows.
What do the fans want? Shows just like TNG/VOY/DS9? Darker or lighter in tone and violence TV shows? More comic relief or less? Lens flare or no lens flare? You can ask 100 fans for an answer, and you would probably get 100 different answers.
I wouldn’t want to be a producer or a creator of a movie or a show in this day and age especially one with a long-established history and fanbase.
Personally, I hope that January 15 comes around with a show that I will be interested in watching episode by episode, but we won’t know until the time comes along.
