There are 153 days to go until The 2026 Trekzone Fan Film Awards are here, time is going by so quickly though it is not always a bad thing, it can be motivating and it can also lead to the beginnings of panic to get things right.
We’re still digging our way through all the AI made stuff and all the commentary about Starfleet Academy to get to fan films on YouTube, we type in Star Trek Fan Productions or Star Trek Fan Films, and we get ‘Starfleet Academy Sucks’ which is not what we believe and not what we want to be seeing either.
Last week was just so demoralising that it really killed off enthusiasm for things but we’re back in the swing of things this week.
New from the Starship Deimos Creative Group of Alabama and Kentucky and produced by Potemkin Pictures is ‘Polarization’, here is the synopsis by Potemkin Pictures.
‘Unknown aliens in their powerful ships have returned to the area near Starbase 211, engaging Federation starships in unprovoked combat (while issuing distress signals). The Starship Deimos is among several dispatched to locate the aliens to ascertain the reason for these unwarranted attacks. On board, First Contact Specialist T’Sov is appointed the task of making contact with these aliens. It is an assignment she soon finds herself far more challenging than she expects.‘
This fan film has not one, not two, but three starship crews in total and they are the crews of the Starship Deimos, Starship Endeavour and the Starship Irinyi, make sure you don’t miss out on this thirty-four-minute fan film that has almost 5,000 YouTube videos in a week.
Defiant Chapter 10 is available for viewing; after watching Chapter 9 and being fascinated by their choice of villain, we had to watch this chapter to see what would happen next and we got to say that a solution to the problem was some very creative and logical thinking, check it out for yourself.
We check in on ‘The Last Charge of the Thunderchild’ and it is pleasing to say that it is doing really well with 7,965 views at this time of writing, if you haven’t seen this Venture adventure then do so at your earliest convenience.
One trailer that has been making the rounds in recent months is ‘Beam Me Up, Sulu’ this documentary will tell the tale of Yorktown: A Time to Heal and it looks like they got some pretty good people in to add to the documentary too.
Looking at the trailer brings back memories of reading about the movie slowly making its way towards completion, it had started and stopped etc. and the challenges they faced of melding 1980s film with the digital age and try not make it so obvious, then there is the memory of them getting picked on by Axanar for taking so long and then it is released and it was successful at The 2022 Trekzone Fan Film Awards.
That’s it for this edition of MTM Wrap, we hope that you have enjoyed this edition.
Until next time, be good to each other.
Wait, there’s been over 200 days since the 2025 awards!!?!?
