Another weekend is here and so is Axanar with another upload, this time ‘all five’ Axanar fan films plonked into the one video totalling just under one hour in length and like the upload last week, it is a weekend deal only and once again with ‘Awesome Star Trek’ in the title.

Why only one weekend? Officially it is because it is conjunction with the fundraiser that we mention further on but perhaps it is one weekend only to evade CBS and Paramount as they may decide to take action if they see it on a Monday assuming that they nap on weekends.

So, you have Prelude to Axanar (Christian Gossett), The Vulcan Scene (Robert Meyer Burnett), The Icarus Manoeuvre (Mark Edward Lewis), Daedalus (Joshua Irwyn) and The Gathering Storm (Mark Edward Lewis and Ted Brunetti) in the one sitting.

The Vulcan Scene isn’t really a fan film; it was pretty much a taste test of what Robert Meyer Burnett hoped to achieve with Axanar.

One fan film that is missing is Interlude which has been jotted down as being part of the ‘Axanar Expanded Universe’ though it is a pretty important fan film in the storyline as it explains the absences of Admiral Ramirez and Admiral Slater and it has ‘An Axanar Fan Film’ in the title on Axanar’s YouTube channel.

Perhaps the changes that Axanar went through during its years of development hell made it not as important as it used to be.

Why is so much attention on Axanar at the moment? It is simple, regardless of them doing things right or wrong, they are doing things and it is popcorn worthy stuff.

Most fan film groups announce a fan film, release a fan film and get back to work so there’s not much to write about outside of those lines, they don’t run into trouble, they don’t rattle the tins, they just do what they need to do.

Axanar has issues with CBS and Paramount, they have Axanar on Demand, they do YouTube shows, they are going back to California, they want fans to see the sets, they got a documentary coming, they’re raising money, so based on all of that, Axanar is where the action is.

Is Axanar unfairly being picked on? No, and the reason is simple, everything gets read or listened to and the thought is, can that be done or not and if it can, it is said so and if it is not then it is said so and why.


So, here is the latest, Fans were being asked to pay a total of $6,500 for the sets to be moved to California and then the price tag was bumped up to $10,000 as you can see above.

Not long after that announcement, the very same day to be exact, it was changed to $13,000, notice that $10,000 is not there.

Nine years ago, the sets actually cost them $23,000 to transport them from California to Georgia, so it looks like they got a bargain despite Axanar needing to send back a lot more stuff to California, the original move resulted in the destruction of other sets too.

It would be interesting if saying that the sets are ‘a place Star Trek fans can actually visit’ would be a concern to the Set Tour in Ticonderoga especially if it is felt there is competition or confusion on what is considered official and what is not official.

Meanwhile Warp 9 Productions, LLC also want $50,000 so they can make a documentary called ‘The Battle for Axanar’ but they think they can do a proper job if they get $100,000 and if they make $150,000 then you get an illustrated script of ‘Axanar First Blood’ and then they get $200,000 you get Axanar First Blood made too.

‘However, being that the recent Doug Drexler documentary raised almost $200,000, on an initial goal of $165,000, we believe that $200,000 will allow us to fully realize this production and our stretch goals.’

Sorry folks, Doug Drexler is a Star Trek legend and a documentary on his work would easily be worth that $200,000 and the story about Axanar is not worth $200,000 to Star Trek fan, though there is a silver lining as the Axanar documentary is the only Axanar related video that can get money back.

It will be interesting to see if the Paul Jenkins documentary is released or not, the feeling is that since the Axanar story is not complete (will it ever?) then you can’t tell a full story, maybe they need to consider doing a Part 2 while waiting.
