Things aren’t what they used to be

I was watching The Simpsons last night and I was reminded that people go on and on about how it isn’t good like it was twenty years ago or something.

So I was thinking more about it and I thought about some more examples of what people don’t like how things are at the moment

People think that Star Trek is not what it used to be twenty-five years ago
People think that Star Wars is not what it used to be almost forty years ago
People think that the Australian Football League is not what what it used to be twenty years ago
People think that NASCAR’s three series are not what they used to be twenty years ago
People think that Major League Baseball is not what it used to be twenty years ago

Of course things aren’t the same as they used to be, time has moved forward, we have all gotten older, our lives are different, our tastes are different, our desires are different.

We all desperately want things to be like they used to be when times were good in our lives but we are also hypocrites because if the same old stuff is served up, we demand change and let’s not forget that in 2005 people were tried of the same old being delivered by Star Trek showrunners and demanded change.

If we keep looking back and comparing, we are never going to be happy people.

There will always be people unhappy with modern day stuff, it is all part of life but we got to be more open minded and remember that we’re watching entertainment and we’re not in a life or death struggle.

Change will come but we don’t have to be a bunch of nasty people to see it through.
